Recent Trends in Opportunistic & Social Networks and its Application

The increased use of Information and Communication Technology in the field of post-disaster recovery and situation analysis now-a-days has led to invention of newer technologies for such uses. DTN, or the Delay Tolerant networks is such an opportunistic communication network. A post-disaster recovery scenario can be modelled using a DTN, where rescue workers act as mobile nodes and they communicate their information whenever they are in their communication range. This course provides an insight into the details of DTN routing and its applicability to a post-disaster recovery and situation analysis. A hand on working over DTN simulator ONE, as well as the popular NS simulator, is a major part of this course. Various related topics are covered by experts from esteemed academic and industrial organizations. Application development basics over the popular Android platform are also included in the course. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs in short) have been explored for their use in the recovery and analysis phases of major disasters world-wide. We have included in this course a practical exposure to the working, principle and real experimentation with a developed UAV.
